In 2024 I participated in the SAE Aero Design competition with a team of students from the Academic Aviation Club of Wrocław University of Science and Technology.

The team designed and built two UAVs for the competition. One for the Advanced class and one for the Micro class.

The Advanced class UAV was capable of carrying a water payload alongside a Powered Autonomous Delivery Aircraft and dropping it at a location detected during the mission by the UAV. The competition was held in Lakeland, FL and Van Nuys, CA in the USA.

I was the creator of the mission control software for the Advanced mission class. My responsibilities included creating this system alongside the ground station software and internal tools. I also held the role of the Ground Control Station operator during the competition.

Thanks to our hard work and dedication, we won the following awards:

  • 1st place overall in the Advanced class during the SAE Aero Design 2024 West competition
  • 1st place for mission performance in the Advanced class during the SAE Aero Design 2024 West competition
  • 2nd place for technical presentation in the Advanced class during the SAE Aero Design 2024 West competition
  • 3rd place for technical report in the Advanced class during the SAE Aero Design 2024 West competition
  • 1st place for mission performance in the Micro class during the SAE Aero Design 2024 West competition
  • 1st place for technical presentation in the Micro class during the SAE Aero Design 2024 West competition
  • 2nd place overall in the Micro class during the SAE Aero Design 2024 West competition
  • 1st place for technical report in the Advanced class during the SAE Aero Design 2024 East competition
  • 3rd place for mission performance in the Micro class during the SAE Aero Design 2024 East competition
